KERIO VIEW
Kinyach
Kinyach and the surrounding area is a hot dry bushland. The soils are thin and the rainfall is low, so what grows is
obviously highly adapted to the environment. In addition to the usual Acacia species, the highly-prized sandalwood tree is
common.

Kinyach is a border town, though the term town is an extreme exaggeration for this small conglomeration of huts.
Three districts and four tribes come together within its environs. The districts are Keiyo, Marakwet and Baringo North.
The tribes are Keiyo, Marakwet, Tugen and Pokot. An uneasy peace prevails for most of the time, everyone struggling
in the same environment to meet the same challenges. However, the Pokot warriors can just decide to go out cattle
raiding again, to raise enough bride price to marry, and the conflict and killing will be back again. I don't envy the
Kinyach sub-chief his job.
